The Advertising Standards Authority says it will take at least a month before it can rule whether a Teazers advert is offensive or not.

The billboard advert in Sandton, northern Johannesburg bears the image of a half-naked woman with the words "no need for gender testing".

Teazers owner Lolly Jackson said the ad was not linked to the Caster Semenya gender debacle but showed the strip club only employed women.

The ASA's Corne Koch said they were assessing the complaint.

"We try and handle the process in about 30 days. We collect all the evidence, we give an opportunity to the advertiser of the billboard to actually provide us with some more information about the advertisement, investigating the complaint and then making a ruling," Koch explained.
