As former national police commissioner Jackie Selebi prepares to go on trial on Monday, prosecutors have confirmed a final list of witnesses they intend calling to testify against him.

Among them are top police officers and prosecuting officials.

Selebi will have to answer to three charges of corruption and one of defeating the ends of justice.

Prosecuting officials past and present including Vusi Pikoli, Mokotedi Mpshe and Leonard McCarthy are on the witness list.

So too are top police officers Tim Williams, Andre Pruis and Rayman Lalla, not to mention infamous names such as Glenn Agliotti and Clinton Nassif.

The NPA's Mthunzi Mhaga said some witnesses may not be called.

"We will continuously assess our case as it proceeds and then we will decide on which witnesses to leave."

Selebi's lawyer Wynanda Coetzee said prosecutors confirmed there would be no delay.

Selebi is preparing for a marathon trial which could take up to six months to finalise.
