It appears President Jacob Zuma has decided who he wants to fill the four vacant Constitutional Court positions.
It is understood he wants to appoint Moegeng Moegeng, Sisi Khampepe, Chris Jafta and Johann Fronemann to the top court.
Last week, Zuma said he could not say who he wanted to select from the Judicial Service Commission's list of seven candidates because he was consulting with political parties.
It is understood he has revealed his preference for these four names.
Moegeng is the most surprising choice because he has been based in Mafikeng for over 10 years.
Appeal Court Judge Mandisa Maya and Durban High Court Judge Leona Theron were seen as likely contenders.
