The family of slain Pretoria cop Charl Scheepers says it appreciates the support from the National Police Commissioner Bheki Cele.

Scheepers was killed while responding to a robbery at a house under construction in Lynnwood Manor on Saturday night.

He apparently ordered the robbers to drop their weapons before he was shot in the stomach.

Scheepers's brother Eugene said Cele visited the family on Monday.

"He [Bheki Cele] said he was very sorry and that he hopes it's the last family?s father that gets ripped away from them. He was extremely supportive and it was very generous of him to come," Eugene said.

Suspect in court for murder

A man will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Tuesday in connection with the murder.

Only one of the eleven people arrested will be charged with Scheepers' murder.

Eugene says he will not be in court.

"I will be following the case but I do not want to be there, it is too soon for me," he said.
