Glenn Agliotti, the state's star witness in the case against Jackie Selebi, is on Wednesday expected to further reveal how the former police commissioner used his influence in exchange for bribes.

On Tuesday, Agliotti told the South Gauteng High Court about regular payments he made to the top cop amounting to over a million rand.

Selebi faces charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.

Agliotti painted a self-portait of an influential broker of sorts, who secured substantial payments from well-known personalities because of his relationship with Selebi.

He went into detail about how he got US$1-million out of mining boss Brett Kebble in exchange for asking Selebi to sort out "problems" at some of his companies.

He also told the court about how Billy Rautenbach had paid him a US$100 000 after he asked the former commissioner to deal with the charges against the ex-Hyundai boss.

The state's star witness also detailed shopping sprees in Sandton and dubious transfers of large amounts of hard cash.

Agliotti described his relationship with Selebi at the time as very close but the ex-policeman's legal team will likely argue that the businessman was simply using his name to secure payments.

The two former friends largely ignored each other during Agliotti's first day in court.

While Selebi was police chief he said that Agliotti was his friend "finish and klaar" when asked about his association with the controversial businessman.
