An anti-rape organisation has praised a 13-year-old Soweto rape victim for her courage in getting her attackers arrested.

Two months ago, a 37-year-old woman allegedly sold the girl to five men living at the Jabulani Hostel in Soweto for an undisclosed amount of money.

The group then gang-raped her.

The teenager recently alerted authorities of the men's whereabouts and identified them.

Police subsequently made the arrests at the weekend.

Women Against Rape's Janine Rowley says the girl's efforts are encouraging.

"I take my hat off for a child of such a young age to have had the courage to have done this," says Rowley.
