An South African Air Force pilot, whose car was shot at by Pretoria police officers, is demanding an apology from Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa.

One woman was killed and two other people wounded in Mabopane when police officers opened fire on the car they were in on Sunday morning.

The Independent Complaints Directorate has begun gathering information about the shooting.

The officers apparently mistook the grey Toyota Conquest for a grey Toyota Corolla that had been reported stolen in the area.

Simon Mathibela says he and the other victims deserve an apology.

"What I was expecting is at least an apology from the police minister and that has not happened which makes my heart sad, because a life has been lost and nothing has been said about this incident," says Mathibela.
