Residents in the volatile Sakhile township in Mpumalanga will soon have a hotline to their municipal officials.

The area has been hit by a series of violent service delivery protests for three weeks, forcing government to send a high level delegation there.

It has conceded residents are being overcharged for electricity and says that will be sorted out as soon as possible.

Acting municipal manager Jabu Sindane says complaints about people not being able to talk to their ward councillors will also soon be dealt with.

"Those problems which are administrative are a priority. We do have a call centre but I want to top up that call centre with an additional line where people can call with problems they have," says Sindane.
