Nine armed men robbed a supermarket in Meyerton, south of
Johannesburg, of cash and airtime vouchers, Gauteng police said on
Sunday.
The gang, armed with pistols and two rifles, held up staff and
customers at the Multisave supermarket in the suburb of Rothdene
at around 4.15pm on Saturday, Captain Shado Mashobane said.
A shootout between the robbers and the shop's owner ensued.
Nobody was hurt. On their way out the gang took a security guard's
firearm. They fled in a white Nissan Sentra, a silver Honda Civic
and a white Toyota Corolla.
No arrrests had been made.
