Rescue workers will return to the Klipspruit River in Eldorado Park on Monday morning, to search for an eight-year-old boy.

Gregory Neathling was last seen playing in the Klipsruit with his friends on Sunday night.

Divers have been searching for the boy while members of the police's Dog Unit have been patrolling surrounding areas.

Johannesburg Emergency Services' Nana Radebe says there is still no sign of him.

"His friends say they were playing along the stream and he was in the stream and they never saw him again," says Radebe.

The Neathling parents are anxiously awaiting news on their son's fate.

A search for him is expected to resume on Monday morning

His father says he did not sleep on Sunday night as he was consumed with thoughts about his missing son adding the family is praying the eight-year-old will be found alive.

He says he is still clinging to hope that the child will be found alive hiding under a tree somewhere near the river bank.
