The Cape Chamber of Commerce says a spike in late arrivals at the office could be a result of the ongoing road works in the city.
Several of the city's major routes are under construction as part of the infrastructure upgrade for the 2010 World Cup which has resulted in major congestion and longer peak hours.
The upgrading of Koeberg Interchange has also resulted in a string of accidents in recent months, causing traffic snarl ups for hours.
"Late arrivals have been more frequent than in the past, many caused by traffic congestion in all the major inroads into Cape Town," says the chamber's Albert Schuitmaker.
He added, however, that businesses have not been affected that badly.
"Employees had to adjust their time schedules and businesses have worked around that one so whilst it has been an inconvenience it has really not been a major loss at this stage," says Schuitmaker.
