Eyewitness News understands that major changes are afoot in the Tshwane Metro Council's executive.

The capital has been plagued by several crises this year, including massive cash flow problems, and Cooperative Governance Minister Sicelo Shiceka earlier this year promised that the metro council will be cleaned up.

Sources within the council say the redeployment of committee members is inevitable after a string of problems saw the capital having to borrow billions in order to stay afloat.

The council has blamed rate payers and other debtors for the cash flow crisis, yet it seems that finally it will start taking action against those responsible.

It is understood the exact number those part of the MMC (Member of the Mayoral Committee), who will face the axe, has not been agreed upon but it is expected that an announcement on the reshuffle will be made within the next two weeks.
