Jackie Selebi's legal team is now hunting down a crucial covert video recording, which was the subject of a controversial City Press article.
The tape was allegedly recorded on 4 January last year and shows Glenn Agliotti talking to senior policeman Mulangi Mphego.
This is the third taped conversation between the two men which is now thought to exist.
Selebi's advocate Jaap Cilliers attempted to question Agliotti about the latest tape despite neither the prosecution nor the defence having a copy of the recording.
It was suggested that Cilliers postpone his cross-examination until he manages to track down a copy of the DVD.
The advocate told the court that he did have some leads he could follow.
The City Press newspaper claims to have seen the footage of the meeting between Agliotti and Mphego at which the state witness claims to have been drunk.
Tempers rose in the South Gauteng High Court on Tuesday and Judge Meyer Joffe rebuked Cilliers for the manner in which he addressed him.
The tense exchange between the two men highlighted the apparent increasing frustration the defence team has with the judge.
