The Mitchell's Plain Community Policing Forum has drawn up a petition opposing bail for the alleged killers of a local crime fighter.
Two gang members are charged with gunning down neighbourhood watch chairperson Mervyn Jacobs two weeks ago.
Bradley Hess and Mario Abrahams appeared briefly in the local magistrate's court on Wednesday, on murder charges. The court postponed the case until 28 October to give officials more time to conduct an identity parade.
The accused will also have an opportunity to appoint their own lawyers.
CPF Chairperson Michael Jacobs said they do not want the two to return to the streets.
The CPF said it has more than 1000 people who have signed the petition
