Murdered Gauteng traffic police officer Simon Sebe will be laid to rest on Friday at a private ceremony on the East Rand.

Hundreds of police officers, friends and family members gathered at the Alberton Civic Centre on Thursday to pay their last respects at a special memorial service.

Sebe was described as one of the hardest working members on the anti-hijacking team, a point highlighted by the fact that he was killed after stopping suspected hijackers while on his way home to his pregnant wife.

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder and they will appear in the Germiston Magistrate's Court next week.
