A woman was killed when three men attacked her in her house in Pessislaer, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
"Police found the naked body of a female, who has been identified as Fikisiwe Mnikathi (51) lying on the bedroom floor in the house. She had sustained an open wound to the head," Inspector Joey Jeevan said in a statement.
The body was found on Sunday morning.
Following investigations police believed three men, wearing balaclavas and armed with handguns and iron pipes entered the house, assaulted Mnikathi's brother and tied him up before going into Mnikathi's room.
"It is alleged that the males thereafter tied her hands and legs together and assaulted her, fatally wounding her."
The men fled in Mnikathi's Mazda Rustler, which her son found on Sunday morning.
The motive for the attack was believed to be robbery. Mnikathi was possibly raped before being killed.
