The African National Congress has called in the help of former Tshwane mayor Smangaliso Mkhatswa to deal with the restructuring of the metro council.
The party has confirmed there will be a reshuffle of Tshwane Mayor Gwen Ramokgopa's mayoral committee while City Manager Kiba Kekana will be fired.
It follows a slew of allegations of mismanagement and severe cash flow problems in the capital.
Eyewitness News understands Mkhatswa will be appointed as the capital?s new speaker.
Ramokgopa is expected to announce this week that the current speaker, Korombi Dau, will be redeployed as her mayoral committee member for Social Development.
The mayor last week denied the city?s top management would be reshuffled despite repeated reassurances by both national and provincial authorities the council would be cleaned up.
A recent survey has found that service delivery in the capital is the worst in the country.
The council is also dealing with a debt collection problem while its coffers have been depleted.
