Tshwane Mayor Gwen Ramokgopa has suspended her city manager.
The mayor tabled a report during a council meeting on Thursday night, calling for the temporary removal of Kiba Kekana which was unanimously accepted.
This follows a slew of allegations of mismanagement and corruption leveled against Kekana.
Kekana's suspension was expected but earlier this week Ramokgopa denied this would happen.
At the time, she said she had no reason to take any action against Kekana because the allegations against him were speculation.
Two days later, the mayor tabled a report in council, calling for a full scale probe into the claims.
It is understood there are eight specific charges to be investigated including mismanagement and maladministration.
It is unclear who will spearhead the investigation but Ramokgopa told councilors they would receive feedback soon.
Got something to say?
