Four people were killed on Sunday after an accident on the N3 highway in Germiston, said Ekurhuleni metro police.
The accident happened on the N3 southbound near the Grey Avenue offramp, said the police in a statement.
"A maroon Citroen C4 lost control, went through the dividing steel with concrete barriers and as bodies were flung out, it landed on the opposite direction," read the statement.
"Four people, believed to be occupants, died instantly."
The dead are the 41-year old male driver of the Citroen and three of the occupants, all men between the ages of 27 and 30.
"The preliminary investigation shows that the Citroen driver was somehow disturbed where he veered off the road and collided with few visible warning signs displayed on the freeway," read the statement.
The accident blocked traffic on the N3 until 4am.
