Private Investigator Mike Bolhuis says attempts are underway to secure several hundred thousand rand he claims he lent Joost van der Westhuizen.

Bolhuis was hired by Van der Westhuizen to investigate the origins of a video tape earlier this year showing a man in a compromising position with a stripper — at the time the former springbok rugby player denied allegations that it was him in the video.

Bolhuis at the time also defended Van der Westhuizen, but has now branded him a liar.

Although the former scrumhalf admits in his recently-released book that he did indeed take drugs and cavort with a one-time stripper, the PI says Van der Westhuizen is not telling all.

Bolhuis says he now wants the former player to pay up on a loan.

"We hope that he will pay us back, but if he's not [sic], remember we are debt collectors; so that's what we do. We will collect this money, but in a legal and a proper manner; but he will pay."

Van der Westhuizen has declined to comment.
