The Tshwane Metro Council says the backlog in refuse removal will be cleared by Thursday.
Refuse removal staff started a wildcat strike last week, causing rubbish to pile up at homes throughout Pretoria.
Residents took matters into their own hands by removing their own garbage; leading to heaps of refuse piling up at municipal dumps.
The council's Executive Director of Waste, Qaphile Gcwensa says the unsightly piles of litter lining streets around municipal dump sites will be removed soon.
"We also request co-operation from residents to leave their dustbins outside, because we may be coming during awkward hours," she said.
