The Alexandra Clinic in northern Johannesburg is discussing long-term plans with local police to step up security at the medical facility.
Gunmen have targeted the facility twice in the last month.
The clinic was held up on Monday morning by two men who were seeking medical attention for their friend.
Three weeks ago, an educational psychology intern was shot and killed outside the facility in a botched hijacking.
The clinic's CEO, Lebane Maluleke says they want police to patrol the area more regularly.
“We are looking at a long-term solution, but police say that we have to understand they can't have police on a twenty four hour basis at the clinic. We have a meeting with them on Thursday to look at a permanent solution," he said.
