Political momentum appears to be building behind Eskom boss Jacob Maroga.

Both the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) and the Black Management Forum say Maroga has in fact not resigned and no resignation letter exists.

This despite the fact that Eskom chairperson Bobby Godsell informed Eskom staffers on Thursday morning that Maroga had quit.

He was scheduled to have a press conference after that but was called away to an urgent meeting.

"He hated Maroga for nothing. He hates Maroga because Maroga is black, that is the only thing," says ANCYL President Julius Malema.

"This is not a banana republic where a white chairperson of a board can wake up and harass people as they used to do in the past," says Malema.

Malema has been followed by the Black Management Forum's Gaba Tabane.

"We have it on good authority that Mr Maroga has not resigned from Eskom. He is still CEO of Eskom," says Tabane.

It would appear the onus could now be on Godsell to produce Maroga's resignation letter if it exists.
