Western Cape Premier, Helen Zille says she suspects the co-operative governance minister is singling out Cape Town for special attention, purely because it is run by the Democratic Alliance.

She is seeking legal advice to stop Minister Sicelo Shiceka's task team from investigating service delivery issues within the city and province.

Two months ago, Shiceka visited Mitchells Plain where residents complained the city had cut off their water supplies without prior warning.

This sparked the establishment of a ministerial task team but Zille has queried the minister's motive.

"It is exactly the same as the Erasmus Commission. What it is, is a selective targeting of the City of Cape Town on a pretext that is very flimsy in order to score political points and to undermine the city," says Zille.
