The farmer shot and killed on a farm near Pietermaritzburg on Saturday evening has been identified as a former KwaZulu-Natal government senior official,

Paramedics found Warwick Dorning, 55, in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound on his farm in Mpoponmeni on Saturday evening. He had retired to the farm in July.

ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks said two other members of his family were unharmed. The motive for the murder was not clear.
