A Soweto mother, who was allegedly out drinking while her toddler was being raped in her Jabulani home, will make her second court appearance on Monday morning.
She was released on R1500 bail after making her first appearance in the Protea Magistrate's Court last week.
Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane threw her full weight behind the police after allegations surfaced that the toddler was left unattended overnight while the child's mother was out drinking at a local shebeen.
Mokonyane said her arrest must send a clear message to mothers around the country that child neglect would not be tolerated and would be treated with the same severity as child abuse.
