The fraud and corruption case against former Mangaung executive mayor Pappie Mokoena, his wife, and 17 others was postponed in the High Court in Bloemfontein on Monday.
Judge A Kruger granted Mokoena, who is accused number one, an application for further particulars about the indictment.
Legal representative for Mokoena, Johan Nel, told the court it was not clear from the indictment what exactly he must address.
"I cannot plea without the particulars," he told the court.
The court was adjourned to Wednesday to give the State time to prepare the details and for the defence to study it.
Mokoena and his co-accused face a total of 259 charges, which include racketeering, fraud, corruption, theft and money laundering involving R130-million. Not all the accused face all the charges.
The case follows an investigation by the Scorpions into the Mangaung Local Municipality.
The accused include the former municipal manager Mojalefa Matlole, former municipal speaker Zongezile Zumane, former business manager Mzwandile Silwana, and Jakes Thithi, a political advisor to the former major.
The others accused are Silwana's wife Brigitte, Evodia Kok (Zumane's personal assistant), Laetitia Hoffman (Mokoena's personal assistant), Buyelwa Khethelo, a businesswoman from Rocklands, and two Heidedal businessmen Keabecoe en Kegomodicoe Lekone.
The rest of the accused include several close corporations some of the accused were involved with.
