Glenn Agliotti, the state's main witness in the case against Jackie Selebi, says he will not comment on claims made by former JCI director John Stratton, denying the former commissioner was bribed.
Stratton on Thursday released a surprise statement denying he, the mining company or Brett Kebble ever gave Selebi money.
He said Agliotti was feeding his own ego by claiming he had any influence over Selebi.
Stratton also denied Agliotti ever paid a $1.2-million consultancy fee to Agliotti which the convicted drugs smuggler claimed to have received.
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority said it did not believe the elderly Australian?s comments dented its case.
The NPA's Mthunzi Mhaga said, "We consider Mr Stratton as an accused person with regards to Agliotti in the matter of Mr Brett Kebble. We believe that this is an attempt on his part to discredit our witness and we are not going to pay him. If he comes to court and testifies to that effect we will deal with it as and when he does so."
Got something to say?
