President Jacob Zuma, the ANC and its alliance partners have come out in full support of Public Enterprises Minister Barbara Hogan.

She lashed out at the Black Management Forum and the ANC Youth League for playing the race card in the Eskom leadership row.

The utility lost both its CEO and board chairperson in the space of two weeks because of an alleged power struggle.

Hogan said government only intervened because the leadership struggle was politicised by organisations for and against the utility's former chair Bobby Godsell.

He resigned from his post on Monday but Hogan said she would meet with him this weekend in a bid to get him to return to his post.

In a written statement from the presidency on Friday, Zuma pledged his support to Hogan's stance, saying external interference in Eskom's matters would not be tolerated regardless of the parties involved.
