The coordinator for the Western Cape ANC task team on Sunday said the party has to regain the trust of the people before it can regain control of the province.

The ANC recently disbanded the leadership structures in the Overberg, Boland and West Coast regions after an audit found it was not being run properly.

This past weekend a task team visited the areas to explain to members why the branches have been disbanded.

Interim leaderships in these three areas will be announced in the next seven days.

Task team coordinator Shaun Byneveld said they are trying to reposition the ANC in the Western Cape.

"It's really about people... at the centre of the ANC's business and the ANC's work and getting our branches to [work as we envisage]."
