Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle said on Tuesday he was hoping to receive a briefing into a car crash that claimed the lives of two matric students soon.
Darren Hoffman and Roqeeb Isaacs of Oude Molen High School in Pinelands died after they lost control of their vehicle on Jan Smuts Drive on Monday afternoon.
Two other students were rushed to hospital, while a fifth student was unhurt.
The exact cause of the accident was still under investigation.
Carlisle told Eyewitness News he was shocked by the incident.
"My sincere sympathies go out to both the families of the dead and the injured. This is a terrible tragedy and it's one that... lives with the families forever."
