A 78-year-old woman was arrested for the alleged possession of drugs in Tokoza on the East Rand on Tuesday, Ekurhuleni metro police said.

Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng said the woman was arrested at a house in Mazibuko Street, after metro police received a tip-off.

"Metro police with the dog unit stormed into the house and found the old woman and a 48-year-old man... in possession of heroin," he said.

He said the two pointed out three houses where dagga was hidden.

Five more people were arrested at the three houses.

They were charged with dealing and possession of drugs, he said.

He said the estimated street value of the confiscated dagga and heroin was R10 000.
