Dr Pieter Mulder has been re-elected as leader of the Freedom Front Plus, the party announced on Sunday.

He thanked delegates for their trust in him and expressed his satisfaction at the enthusiasm and attendance at the FFPlus's federal council meeting over the weekend, the party said in a statement.

The FFPlus's Free State leader Abrie Oosthuizen was re-elected as the party's chairperson, it said.

The party's leadership is decided by the federal council every two years.

Dr Corne Mulder, Western Cape leader; Pieter Groenewald, North West leader; Anton Alberts, MP; Andrew Gerber a former North West MEC; and Jaco Mulder, Gauteng leader and MEC, were elected as members of the party's executive management committee.

The FFplus said Wollie Burger had been elected as its new leader in the Northern Cape to replace Carel Boshoff, while Louis Trichardt was chosen as its Limpopo leader to replace the retiring Willie Snyman.
