An ANC official was hijacked on a driveway in Pretoria, the party said on Tuesday.

Ishmael Mnisi, who works at the ANC's Luthuli House as a media co-ordinator, had just dropped off a friend and was waiting in his companion's driveway when two men appeared and pointed guns at him at 8.30pm at Vampire Street in Landros Park, said ANC spokesperson Brian Sokutu.

"[We] condemn in the strongest terms the hijacking," said Sokutu.

According to Mnisi, one of the hijackers came from the driver's door and another on the passenger side.

"They cocked their guns and were ready to fire at me. They ordered me out of the car at gunpoint, one pointing a gun on my head," he said.

The hijackers took a laptop, bank cards, wallet, money, and a cellphone.

"One of the men suggested that they take me with them and another refused, leading to an argument. It was at this time that I ran away as one threatened to shoot me. I am only thankful to be alive," said Mnisi.

The hijackers fled with his silver 3-series BMW with registration number YBL 718 GP.

Sokutu appealed to members of the public who may have information on the incident or may have spotted the registration number to report the matter to police.
