Izak Berg, the Ekurhuleni councillor who bought a piece of land that was part of the controversial Meyersdal title deeds swop, defended his actions on Wednesday.
Forensic audit company Pasco found the purchase of the property was made before the Meyersdal nature estate was proclaimed and the public notified.
Former Ekurhuleni metro police chief Robert McBride assisted Pasco in their investigation and found the land deal was not above board.
He claimed this was why people tried to assassinate him in 2006 but Izak Berg said he was amused by these claims and said the former metro police boss was up to no good.
"I think this is another smoke screen. This is just another thing to try and take the focus away from what actually happened that day," said Berg.
Got something to say?
