A Kempton Park woman was reunited with her four-year-old child on Wednesday night following a botched hijacking and shootout in Blackheath, report Eyewitness News.
The child was inside a vehicle that was hijacked in Birch Acres earlier that evening.
One robber was shot dead and another arrested.
Police and sniffer dogs combed the scene of the dramatic shootout, between officers and two hijackers, on Beyers Naude Drive in Blackheath until late into the night.
Eyewitness news said that authorities were quick to trace the child to Tembisa, he was unharmed.
The owner of the vehicle is believed to have bought the 4X4 from a foreign embassy.
Got something to say?
