Three parolees were arrested in Tsakane for house robbery and murder on Tuesday, Gauteng police said.

The trio were linked to the murder of an 84-year-old woman in Springs, and two housebreaking cases in Nigel and Dunnottar, Captain Johannes Ramthora said.

Police found stolen items in their possession, including a firearm which was reported stolen in Bedfordview.

"We have established that the three are ex-convicts and served time for house robbery. Two of them are from Mozambique," he said.

"It is alleged that they have been taking stolen South African goods to Mozambique where they are selling them."

A police team was expected to travel to Mozambique to gather more information.

They are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
