National Prosecuting Authority Head Menzi Simelane's position will remain uncertain until mid-February as the General Council of the Bar considers complaints laid against him.
Three of the four members of a Special Sub-Committee appointed by the bar, met in Sandton during the weekend to discuss the complaints lodged last year.
They relate to Simelane's conduct before the Ginwala Inquiry into former NPA head Vusi Pikoli?s suspension.
The General Council of the Bar Subcommittee did not take any decisive action against Simelane when it met at the weekend.
It is going to meet again next month when it will finalise a report which will be given to the GCB's executive committee.
At this stage, it looks unlikely that a unanimous decision will be reached but reports that the panel could be split along racial lines have been labelled unfounded and malicious.
Simelane has a reputation for promoting transformation in the judiciary a stance which often serves as ammunition for his harshest critics.
Got something to say?
