Congress of the People's Youth Movement has resolved to dissolve the Central National Committee and hold elections by May.

This plan of action was decided during a weekend meeting.

The Gauteng branch of the party has also decided to support this action.

The Cope Youth Movement is mobilising and its National Secretary Malusi Booi said it wants the party's CNC dissolved immediately.

Eyewitness News understands the youth movement could capitalise on the ambiguity of the party's draft constitution by getting enough people to resign from the CNC to prevent a quorum.

One member said this rebellion could see Mbhazima Shilowa installed as party leader because Mosiuoa Lekota is running the organisation into the ground. But another warned that Shilowa could also be targeted as he is also being blamed for the party?s chaotic state in Parliament.
