Friends and family of 17-year-old murder victim Anika Smit said their final farewells at an emotional ceremony in Pretoria north on Friday.
The teenager was raped in her father's home last week before her throat was slit and her hands were cut off.
As Reverend Ernst Muller read a passage from the bible in which David begged God for answers, questions about the brutality with which Smit was killed flashed across the faces of many of her classmates.
Hundreds of relatives and friends packed the church building to say goodbye to the girl they knew as Tikkie.
Police have not found the missing body parts, the murder weapon or the killer.
Got something to say?
