The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Monday said it was confident it will successfully convict Bees Roux of murdering Tshwane Metro Police Sergeant Ntshimane Mogale.
However it said it was concerned that Mogale's colleagues who were with him on the night of the incident were not cooperating with investigators. The NPA's Mthunzi Mhaga said they were taking the matter seriously.
"It is really a concern that those issues were raised and we are really looking forward to the investigating officer resolving all those issues but I can guarantee you that we will do our best to make sure that we successfully prosecute this matter," said Mhaga.
It also emerged in court that Roux's credit card was used at a fast food outlet, while he was in the Sunnyside police holding cells.
Roux was released on R100 000 bail on Monday.
