Suspended Head of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Vusi Pikoli, has rejected the idea that a political solution be found to the charges faced by ANC President Jacob Zuma, the SABC reported on Wednesday.
Several groups — including the South African Communist Party and Business Unity SA — have argued that the continuation of Zuma's trial is neither in the interests of the country nor that of justice.
However, Pikoli sides with those who disagree, the broadcaster said.
Pikoli was speaking on his return from Singapore, where he received an award for Prosecutorial Independence from the International Association of Prosecutors.
The award was made irrespective of the Ginwala Commission's inquiry into his fitness to hold office.
