Businessman Hugh Glenister is to seek an urgent interdict to bar
Travelgate MPs from debating the future of the Scorpions, his
spokesperson said on Tuesday.
Glenister is currently waiting the outcome of a Constitutional Court
hearing on his challenge to government plans to disband the unit.
His attorney sent a letter to National Assembly Speaker, Baleka
Mbete, on 14 August asking that MPs who had been investigated by the
Scorpions in the Travelgate matter recuse themselves from consideration
of the two bills that seek to shut down the unit.
A second letter was sent last week, demanding a reply by 22 August,
failing which Glenister would institute an urgent application to
interdict those MPs.
Glenister's spokesperson Dani Cohen said on Tuesday that no reply had
been received.
"Consequently, the papers are currently being prepared," she said.
