Two men have been arrested in the vicinity of the Table Mountain for
theft, Table Mountain National Park said on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Phumeza Mgxashe said the men were arrested by park
rangers on Tuesday in separate incidents. The first was arrested after
a woman hiking on Platteklip Gorge spotted him breaking into a vehicle
and alerted the rangers patrolling the area.
"The rangers gave chase and together with SAPS arrested the suspect
with stolen goods in his possession on Tafelberg Road."
In another incident, a man was arrested after he dropped two bags
containing goods believed to have been stolen, while running away from
rangers.
"Previously, he was spotted at Partridge Point, where, on being
chased by rangers, he dropped two bags with stolen goods which the
rangers took to Simonstown police station. Later he was spotted by
rangers who were on patrol in Red Hill."
