IFP leader Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi's son Prince Phumaphesheya Gregory died in a Durban hospital on Wednesday, Inkatha Freedom Party MP Liezl van der Merwe said.
"He has been in and out of hospital for a long illness," Van der Merwe said.
Buthelezi (49) died at King George hospital.
The funeral would be held in Buthelezi's Mahlabathini residence, KwaPhindangene, on 22 June.
A lecturer at the University of Johannesburg has been stabbed to death in his Gauteng home.
