Jacaranda FM radio presenter Paul Rotherham's wife Zina has been shot and wounded during an attempted hijacking in Johannesburg, Beeld newspaper reported on Friday.
After dropping off a friend at the Marlboro Gautrain station at 5.20pm on Wednesday, she drove off in the direction of Alexandra, in search of a route that would help her avoid rush-hour traffic, the newspaper reported.
At a stop street on Far East Bank Drive, a man walked in front of her Renault Clio, told her to get out and fired two shots at her through the windscreen.
She was hit in the abdomen and her left hand, but drove away and phoned her husband, who alerted the local emergency services. They raced to the Engen garage where she had parked her car and was being helped by garage staff.
She was taken to the Sunninghill hospital, where surgeons removed the bullet from her abdomen.
Rotherham said her condition was stable.
