A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his father after an argument over food, Western Cape police said Monday.
The incident occured on Friday evening after 10pm, said Captain Malcolm Pojie.
"The motive for the murder could be an argument the suspect had with his father over food, earlier the same evening," Pojie said.
Pojie said Hans Olckers (49) and his wife were preparing to go to sleep at their home in Riemvasmaak, Bongolethu.
"It is alleged that the son approached him while he was seated next to his wife on the bed and stabbed him in the chest with a knife," Pojie said.
Olckers later died as a result of the stab wound.
The 24-year-old man was to appear in the Outdshoorn Magistrates' Court Monday.
Investigations were continuing.
