The father of a swimmer, who apparently tried to mislead Gauteng traffic police after being arrested for speeding, appeared in court on Tuesday.

Swimmer Saul Hack (20) and his father David were arrested on the N1 near Pretoria on Sunday.

They were each racing their Porsche GT3s.

The young man appeared in court on Monday and was fined R1500 for driving at 188 km per hour (km/h).

Saul claimed to be part of the South African Olympic team and may now face additional charges for misleading officials.

His father, who was caught driving 234km/h, is currently out on bail.

Gauteng traffic police's Busaphi Nxumalo said, “David Hack appeared in court today [Tuesday], in Centurion. The case has been postponed until 7 August."

He was released on R1000 bail.
