Very cold conditions are expected for the Western Cape over the weekend, the City of Cape Town's Disaster Risk Management Centre said on Friday.
Spokesman Wilfred Solomons-Johannes said the disaster response agencies and public safety authorities were on high alert, following warnings of severe weather conditions by the SA Weather Service.
Rainfall was expected to start on Friday and continue until Sunday.
Solomons-Johannes said temperatures were also expected to significantly drop to an average maximum of 14DegC over the south-western Cape.
Snowfall was expected on the higher mountain ranges of the Boland .
"An appeal is made to Capetonians to exercise extreme caution during these weather conditions," he said.
