Secretary to Parliament Zingile Dingani has been fired with immediate effect.

Last week, a disciplinary committee found him guilty on two of nine charges of misconduct levelled against him and recommended that he be axed.

Two separate sittings in the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces (NCOP) approved the recommendation.

Dingani received a salary advance of R186 000 to build a security wall at his home.

The disciplinary committee found him guilty of misleading executive authorities, as he had said Parliament's policies allowed for advances, but this was not the case.

In August, Parliament's Chief Financial Officer Leslie Mondo was fired for approving the advance.

Dingani was placed on special leave in early April.
